The Business:
French L2 is a service of L1and2, LLC, which is located in Waite Park, Minnesota. Like many businesses today, we have offices and people working in several locations. While the main business is located in Minnesota, many of our tutors work in Bogota, Colombia, where we also have an office.
The People:
Sam (Man Behind-the-Scenes)
Sam has both a BA and MA in French and an MA in TESOL (Teaching French to Speakers of Other Languages). He's well-schooled in language-learning theory, but is also well-grounded in reality. He's been teaching languages since 1999 and takes his coffee black (preferably with a buñuelo).
Lyda Avila (Lead French Tutor)
Lyda graduated from the University of Rosario in Colombia with a degree in Speech-Language Pathology. We've tried to convince her to spend more time on office work, but she'd rather teach. We often hear, "I love my students! They love me! Why should I do office work?" Lyda has been teaching since 1993 and takes her coffee black.
Jaime Soler (People Person and Tutor)
Jaime graduated from the National University of Colombia (Universidad Nacional de Colombia) with a degree in Modern Languages. When not working (extremely rare), Jaime can be found with a guitar or drumsticks in hand (think music, not turkey). He's been teaching for six years and takes his coffee with panela.
Fabián Pedraza (Tutor, Teacher, and Content Creator)
Fabián, our resident comedian, graduated from the National University of Colombia (Universidad Nacional de Colombia) with a degree in Modern Languages. Fabián is both a morning person and a night owl. (We don't understand either.) He's been teaching for six years and takes his coffee with panela.
Karol Ramirez (Tutor, Teacher, and Content Creator)
Karol graduated from the National University of Colombia (Universidad Nacional de Colombia) with a degree in Modern Languages. Karol is what you would call a bundle of energy. Luckily for us, she's willing to share. She's been teaching for five years and takes her coffee with sugar.
Claudia Vallarino (Content Creator)
Claudia is the latest member to join our group. She arrives early, stays late, and helps us manage the office. Claudia is interested in design and likes to add what we call "her touch" to the lessons. Claudia takes her coffee with sugar.
Esteban Villate (Go-To Guy)
Esteban graduated from La Salle University. He studied language (What a surprise, huh?). He majored in French, French, and French...specifically, how to teach these languages. He takes his coffee with sugar and his food seriously.
Vivian Ospina (Go-To Girl)
Vivian graduated from La Salle University. Hmmm...I wonder if she knew Esteban there. Vivian studied French, French, and French. She takes her coffee with sugar and her chocolate filled with arequipe.
